MOOSIC — When Performance Kia general sales manager Bill Werkeiser was asked why his dealership would be considered one of the best new car dealerships in the area, his answer was simple.

Just that. The dealership keeps things simple for its customers.

And Times Leader readers agree. Performance Kia has been selected as the 2017 Readers’ Choice Awards winner for best new car dealership.

“I have a very, very simple belief. It’s put the costumer first,” Werkeiser said. “Put the customer first and put the dealership second. If we take care of the customers, and we go above and beyond in every facet of the transaction, everything else will work itself out.

“I think it’s really easy. The attention to detail that we provide to every single purchase and service customer, as well as the best selection in the area, (separates us).”

That attention to detail that the dealership is looking for in its staff members has made the interview process unique. When interviewing new salesmen and women, Werkeiser isn’t necessarily looking for people with sales experience, but interviewees with communication skills. This way each new sales member is a blank slate without any bad habits.

“I look for people that have the ability to have a relationship with a costumer or friend. Somebody that can be there for that costumer to help them through the process,” Werkeiser said. “We understand making a purchase is a big decision. It’s the second-biggest purchase that you’ll make next to your home, and we want to make sure that we’re right by their side, giving them the guidance and support that they need to make a good decision for the vehicle that meets their needs.”

Performance Kia is looking to give its customers the best deal possible. In doing so, the Moosic dealership has become the No. 1 volume Kia dealership in Northeastern Pennsylvania, according to Werkeiser.

“It just really boils down to the selection we have in the vehicles that customers want,” Werkeiser said. “We find vehicles. we take a look every 30 days at what our ‘hot vehicle’ is, the vehicle that’s selling the most — maybe the vehicle that has the most amount of rebates — and we stock up on those vehicles in just about every color and option group possible to give our customers the best selection. A one-stop location.”

Along with the new Kia inventory, Performance Kia also offers a wide variety of pre-owned vehicles — “everything from your top-of-the-line Kias, all the way down to your most inexpensive Chevys, and in between,” Werkeiser said. “We carry a little bit of everything for every type of scenario or situation that a customer can walk in with.”

The dealership also offers services to all makes and models as well. They offer anything from something as simple as an oil change to bigger jobs like an engine replacement.
