Amanda Lynn Searfoss and Scott William Poplawski were united in marriage Aug. 1, 2015 at St. Ignatius Church in Kingston, by Father John Chmil.

The bride is the daughter Dawn and Martin Flaherty, Kingston and David and Theresa Searfoss, Wilkes-Barre. She is the granddaughter of Josephine Yelland, Wilkes-Barre; Thomas Yelland, Wilkes-Barre; David and Patricia Searfoss, Wilkes-Barre; the late Martin and Dolores Flaherty and the late Edwin and Irene Height.

The groom is the son of Walter and Pearleen Poplawski, Drums. He is the grandson of the late Walter and Henrietta Poplawski and the late William and Linda Jagoda.

The bride was given in marriage by David Searfoss and Martin Flaherty. She chose her best friend, Lauren Adamchak, to be the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Amy Daiute, sister of the groom; Corinne Walker, cousin of the bride; Sarah Mentis, Carissa Wargo and Lindsey Williams, friends of the bride.

Milana Daiute, niece of the groom, was the flower girl.

The groom chose his brother, Kevin Poplawski, to be his best man. Groomsmen were Daniel Flaherty, brother of the bride; David Daiute, brother-in-law of the groom; Gregory Castellani, Alan Gurgal and Mauer Biscotti, friends of the groom. Junior Groomsmen were Nathan Searfoss, brother of the bride and Antonio Daiute, nephew of the groom.

Austin Eddy, godson and cousin of the bride, was the ring bearer.

First scriptural reading was given by Diane Graham, godmother and aunt of the bride. Second scriptural reading and intentions were read by Denise Castellani, family friend of the groom. Gifts were presented by Myles Yelland, cousin of the bride; Elizabeth Poplawski, sister-in-law of the groom; Emily Poplawski, goddaughter and niece of the groom and Nicole Williams, friend of the groom. Ushers were James Walker, Corey Graham and Kyle Graham, all cousins of the bride and Jared Castellani, friend of the groom.

An engagement party was hosted for the couple by the groom’s sister and brother-in-law. The bride was honored at a bridal shower hosted by her mother, mother-in-law and bridesmaids at Irem Temple Country Club, Dallas. An outdoor wedding rehearsal dinner was hosted by the parents of the groom at Keeley’s Alehouse & Grille, Kingston. An evening cocktail hour and reception were held at the Westmoreland Club, Wilkes-Barre.

The bride is a 2005 graduate of Bishop O’Reilly High School. She graduated from Kutztown University with a Bachelor of Science degree in early childhood and elementary education. She earned her Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology from Misericordia University. She is employed by the Wilkes-Barre Area School District as a fourth grade elementary teacher.

The groom is a 2002 graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School. He graduated from King’s College with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. He is employed as a senior accountant at Snyder & Clemente, Kingston. The couple spent their honeymoon in Riviera Maya, Mexico. They reside in Kingston with their two dogs, Shea and Lola.
