Amanda Casey and William Washney Jr. were united in the sacrament of marriage by the Rev. Alex Roche during a church ceremony June 18, at St. Ignatius, in Kingston.

Amanda is daughter of James Qualters, Ashley. She is granddaughter of the late James and Patricia Casey and the late John and Ann Qualters.

William is son of William and Patricia Washney, Wilkes-Barre. He is grandson of Patricia Voitek and the late Robert Voitek and the late Michael and Gertrude Washney.

Amanda was given in marriage by her father, James Qualters. She chose her friend, Krystna Homanko, to be her maid of honor and Holly Spece, cousin of the groom was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mackenzie Jennings, cousin of the groom; Stephanie Hughes, Patricia Manning and Maggie Nealer, friends of the bride.

William chose his brother, Kyle Washney, to be his best man. Groomsmen were Joseph Groblewski and Stephen Serniak, friends of the groom and Jason Spece and Jason Voitek, cousins of the groom. The flower girl was Morgan Qualters and the ring bearer was Damien Cromen.

The first scriptural reading was read by James Qualters Jr., brother of the bride, and the second reading was read by Mary Jennings, aunt of the groom. The universal prayer was read by James Gallagher, great-uncle of the bride.

Amanda was honored at a bridal shower hosted by her bridal party and Patricia Washney, mother of the groom, at Irem Clubhouse, Dallas. An engagement party was hosted by the father of the bride, James Qualters, at Leggio’s, Wilkes-Barre. The wedding rehearsal dinner was hosted by the parents of the groom, William and Patricia Washney, at Genetti’s, Wilkes-Barre. The couple celebrated with an Oyster cocktail hour and dinner reception at Genetti’s, Wilkes-Barre.

The bride is a 2008 graduate of Hanover Area High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from King’s College in 2012. She is employed as a special education teacher at Northeast Scranton Intermediate School.

The groom is a 2008 graduate of James M. Coughlin High School. He earned an associates degree in web development from Luzerne County Community College in 2011. He is employed as an inspector at Medico Industries in Plains.

The couple celebrated with a honeymoon in the Bahamas. They now reside in Kingston.
