LOS ANGELES (AP) — How long can we live? New research suggests there may be a limit to our life span.

The record for the world’s oldest person is 122 years. Researchers say the odds of breaking that record set in 1997 are slim. They think the human life span more likely maxes out at 115 years.

Their analysis was published Wednesday in the journal Nature.

Some aging researchers say the new work doesn’t take into account progress that has been made in the laboratory in extending the life span of some animals including mice, worms and flies.

Other scientists say people wishing to live longer, healthier lives should focus on diet and exercise.
