FORT LITTLETON, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say three people are dead in Pennsylvania following what appears to have been a robbery attempt on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Officials said the shooting occurred shortly before 7:30 a.m. Sunday in the vicinity of the Fort Littleton exit of the Turnpike in Fulton County.

Coroner Berley Souders confirmed that three people were dead, and his office was waiting for a forensic team from state police.

Souders did not specify where the shooting took place or provide more information.

Officials said the shooting appeared to have occurred during a robbery attempt.

State police and a turnpike spokesman said more information would be released later Sunday.
