WILKES-BARRE TWP. — Two men from New York and a third from Florida were caught at the township Walmart while using stolen credit cards to purchase approximately $3,000 worth in merchandise, authorities report.

Police identified those arrested as Shamir Derissaint, 28, of Winter Haven, Fla.; Robert James Decoteau, 26, of Jamaica, N.Y.; and Nicholas Nkosi Alexander, 25, of Brooklyn, N.Y.

As police arrived at the store just before 1 p.m. Saturday, they said one suspect fled on foot. He was nabbed after a brief chase.

Two of the other men fled in a black Ford Taurus, which left Walmart at a high rate of speed.

The Taurus stopped behind Haystacks restaurant on Wilkes-Barre Township Boulevard, and the pair then fled on foot into the city, officers say.

Both were eventually taken into custody, including one man who was located in the area of Falzone’s Towing on North Sherman Street.

All three suspects initially could not post bail and were sent to the county lockup.

Derissaint was charged with a felony access-device count plus a misdemeanor charge of theft by deception. Court records show he posted $10,000 bail Monday through a bondsman.

Decoteau is facing two felonies for access-device fraud and theft by deception.

Court records show he remains in jail for lack of $15,000 cash bail.

Alexander is facing a misdemeanor access-device charge plus charges related to the vehicle chase. They include fleeing, careless driving and failing to stop at a red signal.

He remains locked up for lack of $20,000 cash bail, records state.

All three are set for preliminary hearings at 11 a.m. Oct. 11 before Wilkes-Barre Township District Judge Michael G. Dotzel.
