KINGSTON — A man hid in a dumpster during a foot chase with police in an attempt to elude capture after he allegedly assaulted a woman Tuesday night, according to court records.

Police said they arrested Jose Joel Rosado, 35, address unknown, after he was stunned by a Taser when he jumped out of the dumpster at about 9:30 p.m.

Rosado ran from officers after he allegedly punched a woman and dragged her by the hair.

According to the criminal complaint:

Police responded to 216 Wyoming Ave. for a domestic dispute and found a woman lying face down on stairs. Police said the woman had facial swelling and was bleeding from her right eye.

The woman got up and walked up stairs and was followed by Rosado.

When Rosado reached the top, he ran through the building and out a rear door initiating a foot chase with officers.

During the foot chase, Rosado was stunned by a Taser that temporarily incapacitated him. Rosado got up and continued running.

Police approached a dumpster behind Keefers Army Navy store where Rosado hid.

Rosado climbed out of the dumpster and ran into an officer alongside the store where he initiated a struggle.

Police stunned Rosado a second time before he was arrested.

The woman told police they were drinking in her apartment when they got into an argument. She walked away from Rosado when she claimed he struck her and was knocked out, the complaint says.

Police said the woman was transported to a hospital.

Rosado was wanted by state parole agents.

Rosado was arraigned by District Judge Joseph A. Halesey in Hanover Township on charges of simple assault, resisting arrest, flight to avoid apprehension and harassment. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $25,000 bail.
