WILKES-BARRE – The reviews are in … well, the first one anyway.

Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports and the popular One Bite pizza reviews on Youtube, was in Luzerne County earlier this month checking out a few of the local pizza shops.

He posted his first review on Tuesday night, sampling Angelo’s on Hazle Street in Wilkes-Barre.

While he didn’t get the popular sweet sauce, he did have some nice things to say about the pizza.

“They have a thing in there that says sweet sauce,” Portnoy, or El Presidente as he is know as, said in the video. “Something tells that’s what they are known for but we got the regular sauce.”

Even without the sweet sauce, he seemed to like the pizza.

“Very good,” he said after taking a bite. “And if this is not the sweet sauce, I can’t imagine what the sweet sauce would be.”

He gave the pizza an 8.1.

While he thought highly of the pizza, he didn’t seem to think as much about the region or its residents.

“One thing about these Pennsylvania towns they love American and they love Saturday football,” Portnoy said. “High school football they put the chinstrap on and they just (expletive) hit each other.

“Then the kids, probably once they graduate high school, they go work in the coal mines and drink beer and talk about how they played high school football.”

You would think a founder of a sports blog would know high school football is play on Friday nights in most of the country.
