PLAINS TWP. — Two men captured in Philadelphia on Wednesday were charged
Thursday night with beating and robbing a Wilkes-Barre woman in her home, and
one of the suspects was charged with beating and robbing a store clerk in
Hanover Township.
Roy Herman, 19, who gave his address as RR1 Stillwater, was charged with
burglary, theft and two counts of criminal conspiracy in the Jan. 15 robbery
of Agnes Savage, 70, of Scott Street in Wilkes-Barre. He was remanded to
Luzerne County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Erin McCorristin, 20, who gave his address as Lockhart Street in
Wilkes-Barre, was charged with robbery, burglary and two counts of criminal
conspiracy in the Jan. 15 incident. In addition, he was charged with robbery,
aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property in the
Dec. 4 robbery of a Penn Corners convenience store on the Sans Souci Parkway,
Hanover Township.
McCorristin was remanded to Luzerne County Correctional Facility in lieu of
$75,000 bail for each alleged robbery.
McCorristin allegedly hit Savage on the head with a crowbar and beat
William Allabaugh, a clerk at Penn Corners, during the Dec. 4 incident.
Police are investigating Herman’s possible involvement in the Penn Corners
robbery.
A preliminary hearing for Herman and McCorristin is scheduled for 10 a.m.
Tuesday before District Justice Martin Kane of Wilkes-Barre. A preliminary
hearing for McCorristin on the Penn Corners charges is scheduled for 10 a.m.
March 1 before District Justice Joseph Halesey of Hanover Township.
