Amanda Marie Wascavich and Matthew John Carmody, together with their families, are pleased to announce their engagement and upcoming marriage.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of George and Mary Lou Wascavich, of Avoca. She is the granddaughter of the late George and Kathleen Wascavich, of Hughestown and the late Joseph and Helen Kulick, of Dupont.
Miss Wascavich is a 2005 graduate of Pittston Area High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics-Secondary Education from East Stroudsburg University and a Master’s degree in Classroom Technology from Wilkes University. She is employed by the Pittston Area School District as a mathematics teacher and is the head coach of the boys and girls tennis teams.
The prospective groom is the son of Attorney Joseph and Catherine Carmody, of West Pittston. He is the grandson of the late Joseph and Jule Carmody, of West Pittston and Casimer and Catherine Sowa, of Avoca.
Mr. Carmody is a 2000 graduate of Wyoming Area High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh and his Juris Doctorate from Roger Williams University School of Law. He is a licensed attorney in Pennsylvania and a founding shareholder at Joyce, Carmody and Moran, P.C.
The couple will be united in marriage on September 12, 2015 at Ehrhardt’s Waterfront Resort on Lake Wallenpaupack.
