EDWARDSVILLE — Borough police arrested a man from Scranton after he allegedly smashed windows on a vehicle and flattened tires Sunday.

William Alfonse Sedlock, 29, of Quincy Avenue, was found hiding in the basement of his mother’s apartment on Lee Park Avenue in Hanover Township, according to court records.

Police in Edwardsville allege Sedlock used a knife to flatten tires on a 2008 Lincoln MKZ on Swallow Street, and later returned with a baton to smash windows on the vehicle.

Witnesses told police, court records say, Sedlock fled the scene in a 2019 Ford Fusion, which was traced to his mother on Lee Park Avenue.

When officers showed up at Sedlock’s mother’s apartment, she claimed Sedlock left the area to return to New York City where he work.

Sedlock’s mother permitted officers to search the apartment finding him hiding in the basement, court records say.

Police allege they found a baton inside the Ford Fusion.

A woman told police Sedlock threatened to kill her when he smashed the car’s windows, court records say.

Sedlock was arraigned Monday by District Judge Matthew C. Christopher in Luzerne County Central Court on charges of criminal mischief, terroristic threats, disorderly conduct and possessing instruments of crime. He was jailed at the county correctional facility for lack of $15,000 bail.
