WILKES-BARRE — A man discharged from the emergency room at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital pulled a fire alarm and caused a disturbance at the medical facility Sunday, according to Wilkes-Barre City police.

Anthony Michael Zurlo, 36, of North Pennsylvania Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, struggled with hospital security staff and pulled the fire alarm that resulted in a response by the city’s fire department, court records say.

Zurlo believed hospital security and police were paid to harm him as he resisted being detained, according to court records.

Police in court records say Zurlo was in possession of methamphetamine.

Zurlo was arraigned by District Judge Rick Cronauer of Wilkes-Barre on charges of false alarm to agency of public safety, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, evading arrest, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness. Zurlo was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $5,000 bail.
