WRIGHT TWP. — It was a harmonious meeting Thursday night for the Crestwood school board, their first since the district and its support staff reached a settlement that averted a strike earlier this month.

That potential strike was not explicitly referenced by the board or the public in attendance, though another of the district’s union leaders did step up to the microphone during public comment.

Bill Kane, representing the Crestwood Education Association, PSEA/NEA, spoke on behalf of his fellow union members to the newest members of the board.

“I just wanted to introduce myself to those of you that I have not met; most of you I have met before. Some I’ve worked with for years,” said Kane. “I’m looking forward to a productive relationship.”

Otherwise, the board’s agenda was rather light, with each measure receiving majority affirmative votes from the board.

Among the measures passed were:

• The Intergovernmental Agreement between LIU #18 and the district for the 2024-25 Idea Allocation agreement.

• A three-year agreement between Postler & Jaeckle Corp. mechanical contractors and the district.

• The retaining Alfred Benesch and Co. for professional engineering services for both elementary schools at a fee of $72,000 to be paid out of the Capital Account.

• A one-year agreement at a fee of $4,237 between Fire Alarm Service Technology Inc. and the district.

• The payment to Sledziewski Excavating Inc. for repairs to the baseball field in the amount of $9,650.
