KINGSTON TWP. — A one-vehicle accident on Manor Drive near the intersection with Mount Olivet Road left one dead and one injured Saturday, Aug. 6.

Kingston Township Police Chief Michael A. Moravec confirmed Tuesday Janeen M. Seitz, 39, of Shavertown, was killed when the 2009 Dodge Journey SXT she was riding in left the roadway and struck a tree at 10:18 p.m. Saturday night.

An autopsy on Seitz, conducted Tuesday by forensic pathologist Gary Ross, determined the cause of death was a “result of multiple traumatic injuries due to the motor vehicle crash,” according to the news release.

Seitz’s death was determined to be a homicide, the report said.

The vehicle was driven by Christopher M. Tirpak, 37, of Shavertown. Tirpak was treated for minor injuries following the crash and released from Geisinger Wyoming Valley in Wilkes-Barre.

The active police investigation has determined alcohol was suspected to be a cause of the crash.

Criminal charges are pending.
