SALEM TWP. — One person was hurt in an explosion at the Western International Gas and Cylinders Inc. plant Wednesday.

The injured person was sent to a hospital for burns, but is expected to be OK.

The explosion occurred about 2 p.m. at the plant on River Road, not far off Route 11 and just a few miles from Berwick.

Western International describes itself as a wholesale supplier of acetylene, which is used for welding and cutting applications.
