DALLAS TWP. — Dallas School District parents arriving to drop off and pick up students Tuesday were greeted by teachers conducting an “informational picket” near the school campus, according to Dallas Education Association President Michael Cherinka.

Teachers handed out papers containing the names and phone numbers of all nine Dallas School Board members. The notice urged parents to call board members and ask them to negotiate a new contract in good faith to avoid the pending Friday strike.

Cherinka said teachers will be handing out flyers Wednesday as well.

On Tuesday night, he reported the school board rejected the union’s latest contract offer.

As it stands now, the union and district have one more negotiating session planned ahead of Friday’s potential strike date.
