WILKES-BARRE TWP. — The Eagle will be landing in Luzerne County next week.

President Donald J. Trump is scheduled to campaign for U.S. Senate candidate Lou Barletta at Mohegan Sun Arena on Thursday, Aug. 2, at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the event are available online at donaldjtrump.com.

Barletta, R-Hazleton, is running against two-term incumbent Sen. Bob Casey, D-Scranton, in November.

“I am very excited to have President Trump join me in Pennsylvania to show his strong support for our campaign for U.S. Senate,” Barletta said. “When Bob Casey went to Washington, he left Pennsylvania behind. Maybe he would make a good senator for California, but he no longer represents Pennsylvania.”

Barletta went on to say, “And next Thursday, voters will hear the truth from President Trump that Bob Casey, by obstructing tax cuts and blocking well qualified judicial nominees, is hurting Pennsylvania workers and families, and standing in the way of Making America Great Again.”

On the Donald J. Trump for President website, the visit was announced as the 22nd rally that Trump has held in Pennsylvania, and his sixth rally in the Wilkes Barre-Scranton area, since he first began his run for the presidency in 2015.

The announcement said: “The President is expected to address the latest data from the booming Trump economy including the new jobs benefiting families throughout Pennsylvania, his tireless efforts to protect American manufacturing jobs from bad trade deals, and the importance for Pennsylvanians to get out and vote this fall to support his agenda, especially in Rep. Lou Barletta’s race to unseat Democratic Sen. Bob Casey.”

Michael Glassner, Chief Operating Officer for Donald J. Trump for President, Inc., said, “Certainly, the boom from the Trump economy is being felt throughout Pennsylvania, especially with the surge in new manufacturing jobs. President Trump looks forward to celebrating these and other successes with our fellow patriots at the rally next week when he will also remind Pennsylvanians the importance of getting out to vote in the mid-term elections this fall.”
