WILKES-BARRE TWP. — Nearly 1,300 PPL Electric Customers were without power for a time Friday night after a vehicle crashed into a utility pole at Perkins in Wilkes-Barre Township.
A post on the Township Police Department’s Facebook page said the mid-evening crash outside the Route 309 restaurant brought down a pole and wires.
As a result, traffic lights at many intersections went dark, and drivers were urged to proceed with caution. Reports of lights out included Route 309 and many intersections in South Wilkes-Barre, the Heights section and surrounding areas.
PPL customers in Wilkes-Barre city and township and Hanover Township also were left in the dark. Most had their power back by 10:30 p.m., according to PPL’s outage website.
