The National Weather service has issued a third severe weather warning for both Luzerne and Lackawanna counties.
At approximately 3:22 p.m. The NWS issued a Flash Flood warning in effect until 6:15 p.m. for Luzerne County. Earlier in the afternoon, the NWS issued a tornado warning, which has expired, and severe thunderstorm warning, in effect until 9 p.m.
In addition, the NWS issued a Flood Advisory in effect until 5:15 p.m., saying According to the NWS, flooding is expected to occur in the following towns: Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Dunmore, Kingston, Nanticoke, Plains Township, Carbondale, Old Forge, Pittston and Archbald.
Hanover Township police have closed part of the San Souci Parkway northbound near the Parkway Plaza.
According to police, the parkway is closed due to flooding and power outages.
The NWS urges drivers to avoid flooded areas and to seek higher ground to stay safe.
Some area athletic events were delayed earlier in the afternoon due to loss of power and leaking roofs, but as of 2:47 p.m., the power had come back on for Wilkes University and Lackawanna College athletic events.
GAR Athletics tweeted that the boys basketball game was delayed due to a power outage.
