WILKES-BARRE — Two men are facing charges after police allegedly found drugs and a stolen handgun inside a vehicle during a traffic stop.

One of the men, according to police, yelled at police during the traffic stop.

Akilees Kadeem Hobson, 19, of Edwardsville, is facing charges of carrying a firearm without a license, receiving stolen property, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, persons not to possess a firearm, use of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Armand Kierran Hobson, 19, of Wilkes-Barre, who police said was not in the vehicle at the time of the stop, faces charges of disorderly conduct.

Police said they stopped Akilees Hobson in the area of North Main Street at 5:11 p.m. Sunday for a traffic violation.

During the course of the stop, police said they discovered a loaded Smith & Wesson semi-automatic pistol, suspected crack cocaine, a digital scale, drug paraphernalia, suspected marijuana, and other items.

The firearm was allegedly discovered to be reported stolen to the Pocono Township Police Department, according to police.

Police said that during the course of the traffic stop, two men approached the scene. Officers identified one of the men as Armand Hobson.

Armand Hobson allegedly began yelling obscenities toward officers despite numerous warnings from police to stop. When an officer approached him, Armand Hobson allegedly fled the scene.

Akilees Hobson was arrested and arraigned on his charges before District Judge Alexandra Kokura Kravitz at 8 a.m. Monday, and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Thomas Malloy Sr. at 10 a.m. on March 30.
