Area residents have responded with a show of support after Janet Rains, professionally known as Jane Train, was involved in a tractor trailer accident while on tour with Adrenaline Mob in Micanopy, Fla., on July 14.
The crash occurred when the group’s RV had pulled off Interstate 75 to change a tire.
A native of Pittston, the 48-year-old Train is perhaps best known locally as lead singer of M80.
Earlier this week, an associate of Train contacted the Times Leader saying the critically injured Train was in the “best of hands” at UF Health Shands Burn Center in Gainesville, Fla. A GoFundMe account has been set up for Train requesting financial assistance.
“Jane is in the fight of her life and needs your help,” the GoFundMe account page read. “She faces a very long road to recovery and her expenses are increasing by the minute. Please donate to support Jane in her time of need.”
“Jane Jam,” another effort to assist Train and the Adrenaline Mob band accident victims, will sponsor a benefit on Oct. 12 at The Woodlands in Plains Township.”
Music will be provided by M80, Flaxy Morgan, 40-Lb. Head, Gentleman East, Plus 3, Iron Cowboy, The Tommy Guns Band, Strawberry Jam, Three Imaginary Boys, Ed Randazzo, k8, Melissa Krahnke and Jackson Vee, and Charles Havira.
Other acts will be announced in upcoming weeks.
Proceeds from that event will benefit Train as well as Robert Dressler, 45, of Plains, who was the band’s soundman on the tour; and Jason McCole, 41, of Wilkes-Barre, who was driving the RV.
“She is such a talented and good-hearted soul as evidenced by the outpouring of community support,” said Wyoming Borough Mayor Bob Boyer, who knows Train from her days with M80, “When bad things happen in life, good people can make a difference. We need to stick together more.”
