CLARKS SUMMIT — The Abington Heights junior high softball team completed its season with a 14-4 record. The Lady Comets finished second in the Lackawanna Division with a record of 8-2. The team is coached by Cleve Elmy and Megan Locker.
Nina Kozar led the offense with two hits, including a triple and Ashley Chrysler chipped in with a double during Abington Heights’ 5-0 win over North Pocono. Maria Tully allowed two hits while striking out five batters to pick up the win on the mound.
Despite a double from Mara Hamm and singles from Catherine Anne Kupinski and Katya Williams, Abington Heights fell to Old Forge, 6-2. Hamm struck out eight batters for the Lady Comets.
Hamm had three hits, including a home run to lead Abington Heights to a 16-1 win over Pius X. Kozar homered and Jane Mecca and Kupinski both doubled. Caroline Kelly and Chrysler contributed two hits. Hamm picked up the win for the Lady Comets.
Alison Fiorillo and Chrysler hit home runs during Abington Heights’ 27-6 win over South Scranton Intermediate. Kozar had four hits and scored four times. Kailey Rothenberger, Arla Davis, Tully, and Kupinski had two hits. Kelly contributed a double and Hamm hit a triple. Williams picked up the win on the mound.
Williams and Kupinski each hot a triple to lead Abington Heights over South Scranton Intermediate, 8-0. Chrysler and Rothenberger each hit a double and knocked in two runs. Williams tossed a no-hitter and struck out twelve batters to pick up the win.
