Wyoming Area graduate Dominic DeLuca picked up a pair of awards at the State College Quarterback CLubs’ annual banquet honoring the football team.

DeLuca was honored with the team’s other captains with the Captain’s Award. Also receiving the Captain’s Award were safety Keaton Ellis, offensive lineman Olumuyiwa Fashanu, defensive end Adisa Isaac, tight end Theo Johnson and wide receiver Malick Meiga.

DeLuca, a redshirt sophomore linebacker, was also presented with the John Bruno Memorial Award as the outstanding special teams palyer for the year.

Bruno, a punter, was a member of the 1986 undefeated national championship team. His punting played a key role in limiting the high-powered Miami Hurricanes’ offense off balance in the Nittany Lions’ 14-10 champship-clinching victory in the 1987 Fiesta Bowl.

Away from the field, Bruno was know for his outgoing personality and sense of humor. Bruno died from skin cancer in 1992.

• Bob Mitinger Memorial Award (Ultimate Teammate): TE Tyler Warren, CB Daequan Hardy
