KINGSTON — Wyoming Seminary’s Gavin Green cut in front of a pass from Hun School quarterback Jack Moran at the goal line and dashed 100 yards for a touchdown.

It was the previous passes by Moran that doomed Seminary on Saturday afternoon.

Moran threw for 404 yards and five touchdowns in the first half as the Hun School rolled past Seminary 56-18 in the prep football season opener for the Blue Knights.

Moran, who has committed to Division I Charlotte, finished the game 20-of-27 for 465 yards and six TD tosses. Running back Chase Enlow turned his first pass into a 75-yard catch-and-run touchdown on the game’s first play from scrimmage.

The Hun School (2-0), the top-ranked prep school in the nation by MaxPreps.com, took a 42-6 lead into halftime.

“We had one goal going into the game and that was just give your best effort for each play,” Seminary coach Kevin Burke said. “Whether you play one snap or 150, it was to give your best effort every play. And I think we saw that.

“We came in with four guys out and lost a couple through the game, so we had some freshmen out there. That defense has eight committed scholarship players on it and when you ask a 13-year-old kid to go out there and block and catch the ball and he does it, it’s impressive.”

The Hun School defensive line — led by Division I recruit Luke Wafle, who just visited Texas and has nearly two dozen offers including Notre Dame and Penn State — dominated the line of scrimmage. The Raiders had a safety and held Seminary to minus-1 yard of offense in the first half.

The Blue Knights fared better in the second half, which was played with a running clock due to the 35-point mercy rule.

Seminary scored on its second possession of the third quarter. Quarterback Michael McMaugh connected with running back Jaden Arterberry on a middle screen, and Arterberry picked his way through traffic for a 34-yard touchdown.

McMaugh added a 44-yard touchdown pass to Green with 4:20 left in the fourth quarter.

“They are the No. 1 ranked prep school team,” Burke said. “We are one of the few schools that will play them every year. We’re about development, we want our guys to get ready to play at the college level and that’s why the last two weekends we’ve been so proud heading into my fourth year. We have double-digit guys not only on rosters but playing.”

Seminary (0-1) will play the second of four consecutive home games at 3 p.m. Saturday against Lawrenceville School.
