LEHMAN TWP. — There was plenty to celebrate for the Lake-Lehman Black Knights on a chilly Friday evening as they celebrated Homecoming Night in style with a 48-14 trouncing over the winless Carbondale Area Chargers.

The victory was Lehman’s third straight of the season after its opening Week 1 road defeat from Western Wayne. Carbondale fell to 0-4.

“We got to keep rolling,” Lehman coach Jerry Gilsky said. ” I tell the guys are biggest concern is Week 11, but every game leads up to Week 11 and the playoffs. So next week we have Northwest, the following week we have Wyoming Area, and it’s just that every team we are going to treat it like a championship team. I thought are kids did well.”

Lehman got off to an electrifying start as junior Ryan Eiden took the opening kickoff all the way down to the opposition’s 35-yard line. After gaining big chunks of yardage from their ground game, the Black Knights converted a fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line when senior tailback Zack Kojadinovich rammed the ball in for his team’s opening points.

Then to wrap up the opening quarter of play, junior signal caller Ethan Adams, hooked up on a big 44-yard completion to fellow junior Luke Spencer to set up the Black Knights on the Carbondale 15-yard line. On the very next play, Eiden cashed in, taking it all the way to the house from 15 yards out with 1:25 left in the opening period to expand his team’s lead to 14-0.

In the second quarter, Lehman continued to control all facets of the game, as it scored three more touchdowns before halftime.

The first touchdown came with 5:20 left in the second quarter when Kojadinovich scored his second rushing touchdown on the night, this time barreling into the end zone from 3 yards out to up the Black Knights advantage to 21-0. The second score of the period came only three minutes later when Adams hooked up with Spencer again on a 21-yard touchdown pass through the air to increase the advantage over Carbondale Area to 28-0.

The third score came right at the buzzer to end the first half came as a crucial 24-yard completion from Adams to senior wideout Casey Kaminski, brought the ball to the 7-yard line with one tick of the clock left. Then as the buzzer hit, Adams connected on a short screen pass to Eiden for a 7-yard scoring strike to give the Black Knights a dominant 35-0 lead going into halftime.

As the second half of play got under way, Lehman continued its domination when junior Marshall Woodrosky scored on a lightning quick 57-yard punt return touchdown with 9:21 left in the third stanza.
