Delaware Valley captured the District 2 Class 3A boys volleyball championship Wednesday with a 3-1 victory over Wyoming Valley West at North Pocono High School.
DelVal won the opener 25-19 before Valley West bounced back for a 25-23 win. The Warriors closed out the match with 25-14, 25-17 wins. Both teams were in the D2/11-4A tournament, but lost in the first round and played off for the D2 title. It was the final match of the season for both teams.
Kevin Fegal had 15 assists for Valley West. Adam McCue had six points, nine digs and an ace. Jon Derhammer had four points, six digs and an aces. Tyler Klienbach contributed eight kills and three blocks. Davis Weaver had two kills, two digs and a block.

Two MU players get honors
Misericordia University baseball standouts Tim Burek and Tyler Holzapfel have been honored by the Eastern Sports Athletics Conference.
Burek was named first-team All-ECAC North while Holzapfel was the Rookie of the Year.
A senior pitcher, Burek was 9-4 with a 3.24 ERA while leading the Cougars to their seventh straight MAC Freedom title and NCAA Tournament appearance He struck out 77 strikeouts in 72.1 innings pitched and tossed two complete games, including one shutout.
His wins and strikeouts totals are both the second-highest single-season total in school history.
Holzapfel, a first baseman, started all 44 games for the Cougars and led the team in batting (.370), slugging (.531), runs (33), hits (60), RBI (38), homers (4) and total bases (86). He also had a team-high 20 multi-hit games, including four three-hit games.

MU trio at championships
Three members of the Misericordia University track & field team will begin competition at the NCAA Division III Championships at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, Thursday.
Reilly Wagner will compete in the 400-meter hurdles while Juwan Petties-Jackson will run in the 200-meter preliminaries and Oniesha Clarke will compete in the long jump.
Wagner is seeded 15th. Petties-Jackson is eighth and Clarke is sixth in the long jump.
Wagner will compete in the high jump and 100 hurdle prelims Friday. She is seeded seventh in the high jump and 15th in the hurdles.
Clarke and Petties-Jackson will both run in the 100 prelims Friday. Clarke is seeded fifth while Petties-Jackson is seeded seventh.
Petties-Jackson was the NCAA Indoor champion at 200m while Clarke was third at 60m and Wagner was second in the heptathlon.
A year ago, Wagner and Clarke earned All-American honors at the outdoor championships. Wagner was sixth in the high jump and Clarke placed eighth in the 100.
