The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders jumped out to an early 9-0 lead en route to a 10-3 win over the Louisville Bats on Wednesday night at Louisville Slugger Field.

With the win, the RailRiders (6-6) handed Louisville (5-7) its fifth straight home loss.

Ruben Tejada got things going in the second inning with a bases-loaded double to give the RailRiders a 3-0 lead. Rob Refsnyder’s two-run homer expanded the advantage to 5-0. His two-run homer in the third and a four-spot in the fourth rounded out the 9-0 advantage, highlighted by a two-run single from Ji-Man Choi.

Louisville starter Jackson Stephens (1-1) allowed all nine runs (six earned) over 3.2 innings on 105 pitches (65 strikes). RailRiders starter Caleb Smith gave up just one run on two hits and three walks over 4.1 innings, striking out five.

Four SWB relievers carried the baton from there with Tyler Jones (1-1) earning the victory after two scoreless frames.

Mason Williams’ ninth-inning sac fly made it 10-2.

Louisville’s Dilson Herrera, Sebastian Elizalde and Zach Vincej each had an RBI hit. Usual outfielder Beau Amaral made his pro pitching debut in the ninth for the home club as the sixth different pitcher used by the Bats on the night.

The three-game series concludes at 7:05 p.m. Thursday night as SWB right-hander Luis Cessa (1-1, 1.42) opposes southpaw Nick Routt (0-0, 1.59).

The RailRiders return home on April 25 to host Louisville at PNC Field at 6:35 p.m.
