Walter Tewksbury, of Tunkhannock and Wyoming Seminary, was a track star for the U.S. Olympic team at the Paris Games in 1900. The local product won two gold medals (200, 400 hurdles), two silvers (60, 100) and a bronze (200 hurdles).

He leads a group of talented area athletes who have competed on the world stage in the Olympics.
