WILKES-BARRE — City Hall will be closed Monday for the Veterans Day holiday and there will be no Department of Public Works services. City Hall will reopen at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Residents in the Downtown and South Wilkes-Barre 1 neighborhoods with a Monday collection day will have their recycling picked up on Saturday and their garbage picked up on Tuesday.

DPW will also begin to collect yard waste for residents in the Monday and Tuesday collection day neighborhoods, however delays are possible. All other collection dates will remain as scheduled.

Due to the increased volume of yard waste, the city will accept residential yard waste, within the bins provided by the city, at the DPW Garage, 3 Conyngham Ave., from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. At this time only lawn clipping and leaves will be accepted at the DPW Garage. Tree branches and bushes will not be accepted.
