WILKES-BARRE — Five “professional employees” at GAR Memorial High School have been suspended with pay following an unspecified incident, Wilkes-Barre Area School District Solicitor Ray Wendolowski confirmed Monday.

Asked about rumors the five were teachers caught either drinking alcohol at or having had alcohol prior to a junior high dance earlier this month, Wendolowski said he could not comment further because it is a personnel matter and part of an ongoing investigation.

The investigation is being conducted by the administration, Wendolowski said.
