WILKES-BARRE TWP. — Wet Seal at the Wyoming Valley Mall is set to close.

An employee at the teen clothing retailer, who did not wish to be identified, said Friday that sales started this week. An exact closing date could not be confirmed.

In a letter obtained by The Wall Street Journal dated Jan. 20, officials announced the retailer’s plans to close all its stores due to its failure to find investors or a buyer for the company.

The retailer has 171 stores in 42 states, according to its website.

The clothing seller filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2015.
