HANOVER TWP. — Firefighters from five different fire departments worked relentlessly Sunday afternoon to put out a fire in a garage in Hanover Township.
A call regarding a working structure fire at 12 Loomis Park Road was received at 3:54 p.m. The garage was located near the Loomis Park housing development. Hanover Township Fire Chief Joe Temarantz said the owner of the garage was the only individual inside at the time of the fire and he made it out safely with no injuries.
Temarantz also said there was “extensive damage inside”, but the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. A fire marshall will be visiting the property on Monday. The Sugar Notch Fire Department, Hunlock Creek Fire Department, Nanticoke Fire Department and Laurel Run Fire Department all assisted with the massive blaze.
Traffic on Loomis Park Road and Dundee Cross Road was blocked for at least an hour and a half.
