Police plan crackdown on illegal trash dumping –
    Police will be stationed in the city’s “clutter cleanup areas” to catch
people illegally dumping their trash, officials said.
   
Wilkes-Barre police have received reports that people from outside the area
or residents without permits have been dumping clutter in the cleanup areas.
Residents are urged to report illegal dumping by calling 911. If caught,
illegal dumpers face fines of $300 to $1,000.
   
Junk-removal permits available throughout W-B –
   
The $20 permits needed to participate in the city’s clutter cleanup are on
sale through Friday at the south fire station at Parrish and High streets,
Mayor Tom McGroarty said in a press release.
   
Between Sept. 28 and Oct. 2, permits will be sold at Huber Park, Huber
Street, and in the Mayflower and Iron Triangle sections. From Oct. 5 to 9,
they will be available at Coal Street Park, Coal and North Grant streets.

Young Republicans book bus trip to Atlantic City –
   
The Luzerne County Young Republicans will sponsor a trip to Atlantic City
on Oct. 11.
   
The trip is open to anyone. The bus will
