WILKES-BARRE — City police, after further investigating an incident reported two weeks ago, announced Sunday that no charges would be filed in a matter involving a local blogger.

Police initially reported Sunday afternoon via the police department Facebook page that Mark Robbins, 52, of Forty Fort was cited with harassment and criminal trespass after he allegedly kept contacting a 45-year-old woman on Dec. 13.

Police had said that following the repeated communications, Robbins allegedly arrived at the woman’s residence uninvited.

Just over three hours later, police posted a comment on the original Facebook post that indicated the reporting officer conducted a further investigation “and criminal allegations made by the victim could not be corroborated.”

Police said the officer “will not be filing charges and will refer the victim to civil court.”

Robbins writes an online blog that has been critical of Wilkes-Barre Mayor Tom Leighton and other city and Luzerne County officials.
