Dorothy M. Vishnefski, 81, formerly of Depot Street, Glen Lyon, passed away Friday morning, Dec. 25, 2009, at Birchwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Nanticoke.
She was born in Nanticoke on June 2, 1928. She was a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Okonieski) Mikolaczyk.
Dorothy resided in Glen Lyon for most of her life. She attended Nanticoke schools and was a member of Corpus Christi Parish/St. Adalbert’s Church. Dorothy was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Glen Lyon and a former member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, Glen Lyon.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years of marriage, Joseph S. Vishnefski, on December 14, 2009; and infant grandson, James Vishnefski.
Surviving are a daughter, Sharon Winckoski and her husband, Carl, of Milford, Del.; sons, John Vishnefski and his wife, Diane, of Wanamie; Thomas Vishnefski and his wife, Robin, of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Mark Vishnefski and his wife, Melina, of Shickshinny; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Leonard Michaels, Nanticoke; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday from the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 211 W. Main St., Glen Lyon, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Corpus Christi Parish/St. Adalbert’s Church, Market Street, Glen Lyon.
Interment will be held in St. Adalbert’s Cemetery, Glen Lyon. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
