Hughestown Borough participated in the county tire recycling program. A truck load was taken by Jerry Lynch, who donated his time.

The 2011 budget was read and approved by council.

Hughestown Police reported 65 incidents: 15 traffic citations, 4 criminal, 3 EMS, 4 accidents, 2 K-9 unit responses. Reported by Councilman Bob Gable.

Police reports $105.00 collected in fines. Magistrate Fred Pierantoni distributed $108.95.

Hughestown Hose Company report: activated fire alarm, 5 cancelled en-route, 17 EMS, 1 fire police call out, 1 hazardous materials incident,1 investigation, 2 motor vehicle accidents, 1 stand by assignments, 1 vehicle fire, 6 wild land fires, total 36 calls. Reported by Councilman Phil Falvo.

Councilwoman Barbara Gatto reported all bills were in order and will be paid when funds become available.

Three bids will be sought for Rock Street paving. Lowest bidder will receive the contract, Councilman Paul Murphy reported.

An ordinance regarding fireworks is being processed. Council said a permit will be required.

Council said a letter will be sent to a property owner on Parsonage Street regarding water run off

A complaint was received on condition of Skyline and Grandview drives.

Residents complained about the Pittston City Sewer maintenance fee.

A Holiday Craft and Gift Sale will be held November 7 at Hughestown Hose Company from 12 to 5 p.m. Chairpersons Mary Golya and Mary Ann Quick invited everyone to participate with this fundraiser for Park and Recreation Board. A variety of vendors will allow everyone to get ready for the holidays. Food and refreshments will be available.

The stand is almost complete for Robert Yaple Memorial Park.

Hughestown borough will no longer pick up grass and leaves. Wednesday’s pick up will be for ashes.
