Raymond Pernot

aymond J. Pernot, 69, of Hallstead Street, Duryea, died Thursday at his
home.
Born in Duryea, he was a son of the late Charles and Julia (Ulias) Pernot.
He was a 1950 graduate of Duryea High School. He worked for PP & L for 41
years, before retiring. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a
member of Holy Rosary Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1227 and American
Legion Post 585, all of Duryea, fourth degree member of the Knights of
Columbus Council 372, Pittston, and member of the Amvets Post 189, Dupont.
Surviving are his wife, the former Peggy Kossian; brother, Bernard, Duryea;
sister, Romaine Rosar, Scranton; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Monday from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral
Home Inc., 204 Main St., Duryea, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m.
at Holy Rosary Church. The Rev. Charles Rokosz will officiate. Interment will
be in the parish cemetery, Duryea. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. Sunday. The American Legion Post 585 will conduct military services at 7
p.m. Sunday. The Confraternity of Christian Women will recite the rosary at
7:10 p.m. Sunday. The Amvets Post 189 will conduct military services at 7:30
p.m. Sunday. The Veterans of Foreign Wars 1227 and Amvets Post 189 will
conduct military services Monday morning.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Rosary Church,
Duryea; or to the Luzerne County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to
Animals.
