You don’t have to wait two hours until you’re rescued from the deep

We are writing this letter in response to the statement pertaining to the
sheriff’s dive team by Jim Johnson, sergeant of local dive teams (Jan. 11):
“You’ll have to wait at least two hours until someone can rescue you,
because we’re not allowed to.”

This statement is untrueThere are numerous other certified water rescue
units in Luzerne County who will respond anytime, anywhere. These units
include: Breslau Hose Company No. 5, Hanover Township, Nanticoke River Rescue
219, Plymouth Rescue along with numerous other units.

When called upon, these units work closely together to effect a safe,
organized rescue. This has been proven numerous times, even though these units
have no dive team.
