Madeline Gillis, 96, of Duryea, died Saturday at the Hospice Unit of Mercy
Hospital in ScrantonBorn in Old Forge, she was the daughter of the late
William and Mary Zelonis.
She was a resident of Duryea for most of her life and was formerly employed
in the area garment industry.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Duryea.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Aloysius Gillis; daughter, Gloria
(Gillis) Lynn; brothers, William and John Gillis; sisters, Anna Guditus, Mary
Bagdon and Connie Dunick.
Surviving are her daughter, Madeline, at home; sister, Lillian Deshaies,
Jupiter, Fla.; one grandson; two great-grandsons; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday from the Bernard J. Piontek
Funeral Home, Inc., 204 Main St., Duryea, with a Mass of Christian Burial at
9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Duryea.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery in Duryea.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
