DINGMAN’S FERRY – The Bishop Hoban girls swimming team won nine of 10
events as it routed East Stroudsburg North 130-40 Tuesday and clinched the
Wyoming Valley Conference Class 2A title.
   
The Argents used strong performances by Liz Byron, Katelyn Ostopick,
Kalyleen Bellas, Maria Whitman, Diane Sweeda, Julie McLaughlin and Bergen
Mesko to finish the regular season at 13-0.
    The Timberwolves’ only victory came in the 100 breaststroke.
   
Pittston Area 100, Meyers 86
   
YATESVILLE – Sue Yugovsky, Carle Testa and Katie Shovlin each won two
events as Pittston Area defeated Meyers.
   
Yugovsky placed first in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke, Testa in the
200 individual medley and 500 freestyle and Shovlin in the 50 and 100
freestyle.
   
Kim Conklin won the 100 breaststroke for Meyers. The 200 medley relay team
of Maura Pape, Brianna Hahn, Julie Frank and Amanda Stempleski had the
Mohawks’ other victories.
   
Delaware Valley 108, West Scranton 66
   
SCRANTON – Dana Zielazny and Jenna Dean each had two first-place finishes
for Delaware Valley.
   
Zielazny won the 200 individual medley and the 100 fly, while Dean won the
50 and 100 freestyle.
   
Jacki Harris captured first place in diving and Jennifer Lynch had a
first-place finish in the 100 breaststroke for West Scranton.
   
Hanover Area 98, Dallas 88
   
HANOVER TWP. – Amy Kane had three victories and Amanda Politz posted two in
Hanover Area’s victory.
   
Annie Savage and Jenn Arthur had three victories each for Dallas.
   
Scranton Prep 118, Wyoming Area 52
   
SCRANTON – Scranton Prep took first place in all 12 events to defeat
visiting Wyoming Area.
   
BOYS SWIMMING
   
Delaware Valley 91, West Scranton 62
   
SCRANTON – Five different swimmers had first-place finishes for Delaware
Valley.
   
James Moriane set a pool record (2:08.96) in the 200 I.M.
   
West Scranton received first-place finishes from four different swimmers.
   
Dallas 97, Hanover Area 89
   
HANOVER TWP. – Dallas’ 400 free relay teams placed first and second in the
meet’s final event as the Mountaineers edged Hanover Area.
   
Seth Yeager won the 200 free and 100 backstroke for Dallas.
   
Bishop Hoban 102, East Stroudsburg North 28
   
DINGMAN’S FERRY – Jerry McGroarty had four victories in Bishop Hoban’s rout
of East Stroudsburg North.
   
North had no entrants in three events and one swimmer in four others.
   
BOYS BASKETBALL
   
Dallas 64, Nanticoke 59
   
DALLAS – John Simonitis scored a game-high 16 to pace Dallas. Jay Carroll
added 16.
   
Kevin Wilkes scored 15 and Neil Bavitz added 13 for Nanticoke. Bob Donahue
tossed in 11.
   
GAR 73, Bishop O’Reilly 71
   
KINGSTON – Tom Dohman hit three three-point goals in the fourth quarter as
GAR rallied from a seven-point deficit to defeat Bishop O’Reilly.
   
Dohman finished with 17 points. Chris Shovlin led the Grenadiers with 19,
while Ryan Gwynn added 15.
   
O’Reilly’s Jim Stambaugh scored 19 points, including seven in the third
quarter to give the Queensmen a 56-49 lead. Andrew Lohin and Josh Hook added
16 each.
   
Pittston Area 45, Berwick 35
   
BERWICK – Jon Munski had 12 points and John Pasquarello added 10 for
Pittston Area in its victory.
   
Jared Bazewicz scored a game-high 16 points for Berwick. Brandon Sheats
added nine.
   
Wyoming Seminary 61, Bishop Hoban 57
   
WILKES-BARRE – Joel McAndrew scored 12 of his game-high 23 points in the
fourth quarter, leading the Blue Knights past the host Argents.
   
Peter Skutil added 21 for Seminary.
   
For Hoban, Ryan Miller and John Mooney scored 14 points each and Dave
Saracino had 12.
   
Hanover Area 93, Lake-Lehman 67
   
HANOVER TWP. – The host Hawkeyes placed five players in double figures en
route to a victory.
   
Tim Strenfel (22 points), Dan Nealon (21), Ryan Milford (13), Joe
Kawczemski (12) and Ken Cwalina (10) powered Hanover Area.
   
For Lehman, Matt Dunn and Joe Walko contributed 25 and 19 points,
respectively.
   
Meyers 67, Bishop Hafey 46
   
WILKES-BARRE – Scott Mudzik led Meyers with 15 points. Chris Cresci added
13 points for the Mohawks.
   
Matt Quinn scored a team-high 15 points for Bishop Hafey.
   
Seton Catholic 68, Northwest 51
   
SHICKSHINNY – Jim Dessoye and Bill Burke each poured in a game-high 17
points to lead Seton Catholic.
   
Brian Lear scored 12 points for Northwest, while Ed Altemose added 10.
   
Hazleton Area 74, Coughlin 49
   
HAZLETON – Frank Stish led Hazleton Area’s offense with 17 points. Chris
Leib added to the Cougars’ cause with 16 points.
   
Mike Lucchino and Mike Froelick each scored a team-high 15 points for
Coughlin.
   
Wyoming Area 48, Crestwood 42
   
EXETER – Steve Buzinski scored 15 points and Brian Wolcott added 11 as
Wyoming Area used an 18-point fourth quarter to edge Crestwood.
   
Crestwood’s Gerald O’Hara scored 10 points and was the only Comet in double
figures.
   
Ebenezer Faith 73, Columbia County Christian 61
   
PLYMOUTH – Mike Levkulich scored a career- and school-high 32 points,
including eight three-pointers for Ebenezer Faith.
   
Shawn Lowe scored 23 points for Columbia County Christian.
   
GIRLS BASKETBALL
   
Columbia County Christian 51, Ebenezer Faith 30
   
PLYMOUTH – Kristin Morris racked up 26 points to lead Columbia County
Christian.
   
Maria Worlinsky scored 12 points for Ebenezer Faith.
