WILKES-BARRE TWP. — Township police arrested two men from Schuylkill County on charges they had allegedly stolen items from Target, Wilkes-Barre Township Commons, on Monday.

Store security told police David Tavares, 29, of Saint Clair, and Steven Brilla, 21, of Pottsville, removed security devices from electronic items and placed the items inside an empty air purifier box, according to a news release.

Police said Brilla was wanted by the Luzerne County Sheriff’s Department on three warrants charging him with failure to appear for a court proceeding.

Brilla was charged with retail theft, criminal conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed at the county correctional facility for lack of $15,000 bail.

Tavares was charged with retail theft, criminal conspiracy and possessing instruments of crime.

Police said the value of the stolen items was $2,979.
