WILKES-BARRE TWP. — A state police fire marshal said Monday afternoon that he had yet to determine the cause of a fire at 115 Casey Ave. that broke out early Monday morning.
According to township Fire Chief Richard Hart, arson had not yet been ruled out as a cause of the fire.
Hart said a call reporting the fire was received at about 3 a.m. and the home was totally destroyed by the blaze.
He said the owner now lives in Virginia but stayed at the residence when he was in town.
Hart credited Ashley, Laurel Run, Wilkes-Barre Township, Plains Township and Hanover Township fire departments and an Ashley rehab unit, as well as Trans-Med Ambulance, with a cooperative effort in fighting the blaze.
“I’d like to thank them for their efforts,” he said, “for truly working together to keep area residents safe.”
State police Deputy Fire Marshal Ronald Jarocha said he anticipated determining the cause of the fire by Wednesday, after consulting with the homeowner.
