WILKES-BARRE — For the third straight year, readers have chosen PNC Bank as the name you can bank on.

Pete Danchak, PNC’s regional president, is thrilled for the designation of Best Bank in the Times Leader 2016 Readers’ Choice contest.

“We feel very fortunate to be the trusted bank for financial services in the region,” he said. “We have developed many long-term relationships with our customers and community organizations, allowing all to grow together.”

Danchak said PNC Bank’s philosophy is to strengthen both the company and the community. He pointed to PNC’s “long track record” of supporting the arts, citing PNC’s support of the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts, the United Way, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders and Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.

“We feel if our community grows and prospers, we will all succeed,” he said.

PNC Bank employs nearly 700 people at 66 branch offices in the northeast region, Danchak said, adding many have been with PNC for 25 or more years.

“We value our employees’ commitment and passion to serving our clients and customers,” Danchak said. “Many of our employees also serve as volunteers in many community organizations.”

He said PNC has always encouraged employees to take an active role in their communities.

PNC’s northeast region includes Luzerne, Lackawanna and Monroe counties and the Lehigh Valley area. Corporate offices are housed in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, Danchak said.

“We strive to be customer-focused.” Danchak said. “Like I said, our commitment is to our clients and the communities we serve.”

Danchak said PNC and its employees want to add whatever they can to the quality of life in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

He said the region has access to major cities and markets, while offering a lifestyle rich in family values and traditions.

“This region is multi-generational,” Danchak said. “And we have a great educational system, outstanding recreational venues and an abundance of natural resources and beauty.”

Danchak said Northeastern Pennsylvania “is blessed with a strong road infrastructure, industrial parks and a dedicated workforce with a strong reputation.”

He said leveraging the region’s strengths is the key to retaining and recruiting the best workers and their families.

While at PNC’s branch on Schechter Drive in Wilkes-Barre Township, Danchak walked around the building, saying hello to customers and employees.

“Our customers have been loyal to PNC for years,” he said. “We try to show our appreciation to them every day.”
