BEAR CREEK TWP. — A man killed himself during a traffic stop on the Pennsylvania Turnpike on Friday, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.

According to a police report:

State troopers stopped a 2001 Chevrolet Impala that was being operated in an “erratic manner” in the northbound lane of the turnpike near mile marker 98 at approximately 10:32 p.m. When a trooper asked the driver, identified as 22-year-old Emmanuel Giddings, Jr. of Philadelphia, to get out of the vehicle for a field sobriety test, he pulled out a handgun and shot himself in the head.

Illegal drugs where found during a search of the vehicle by officers.
