WILKES-BARRE — A man was found dead on a sidewalk Thursday morning in what police say was the result of a medical emergency.

Officers were dispatched to the area of North Main and Beaumont streets at approximately 7:15 a.m. for a report of male found unresponsive on the sidewalk. Emergency broadcasts indicated the man was found underneath a bicycle, and was unresponsive and not breathing.

The man’s body was covered with sheets as officers checked the area. Officers could be seen talking with a woman, who was later seen leaving the scene in a police cruiser.

An officer at the scene said it appeared the man had a medical emergency while riding his bike.

The Luzerne County Coroner was also dispatched to the scene.
