Use Act 13 funds for levee maintenace. That is my rebuttal to Luzerne County using Act 13 funds for the Riverfront Parks Committee.
The people of Luzerne County use the levee system for recreation.
Why should property and business owners keep footing the bill on the upkeep of the levee?
The county thinks nothing of increasing the levee fee with no regard to the people who live along the system. The county employs 12 workers to take care of the levee. If you divide the present wages and pensions alloted, each employee receives $64,000 each year.
This is without a future increase. I do not remember seeing these jobs posted. Not a bad chunk of change for cutting grass, etc. I do not think an increase in wages and benefits are justified, considering we in Luzerne County live in a depressed area.
Enough is enough!
