Butchko kept Wyoming Area in contention with great hands and instincts in net. She had a .880 save percentage and posted five shutouts. Butchko made 16 saves in a shutout of Pittston Area and stopped nine shots in a 1-0 loss at Crestwood.
Nicole Cavanaugh
Holy Redeemer
Jr. – Midfield
Cavanaugh more than doubled her scoring production from 2014 with 21 goals and 14 assists for 56 points – the fourth-best margin in the WVC behind Tona, Lawson and Mattson. Her season highlights include a hat trick against Nanticoke and a game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Wyoming Valley West.
Melissa Herrera
Crestwood
Fr. – Forward
Heralding the youth movement at Crestwood was Herrera’s 14 goal campaign en route to a district quarterfinal run and the WVC’s first regular season defeat of Dallas in two seasons. The lone freshman TL all-star, Herrera and the Comets should be the favorite to win a division title in 2016.
Julia Hutsko
Lake-Lehman
Sr. – Midfield
Hutsko kept the Black Knights’ offense in motion with 15 goals, 11 assists and 41 points. She scored in each of Lake-Lehman’s playoff wins over Valley View and Scranton Prep, and led the Knights to back-to-back upsets over Coughlin and Crestwood.

Lake-Lehman
So. – Forward
Love’s speed and Soccer IQ made way for 17 goals and 10 assists for the Black Knights. She had a hat trick in a district playoff win over Valley View, and Love scored all three goals in an upset shutout of Crestwood.
Lydia Lawson
Holy Redeemer
Sr. – Forward
Gifted with superb finishing skills and goal-scoring prowess, Lawson led the Royals in scoring for the fourth straight season. A two-time all-state rep, she topped the WVC with 40 goals. Lawson surpassed the 100 goals plateau and netted a career-best six goals in a district playoff win over Berwick.
Ruby Mattson
Dallas
Sr. – Midfield
The reigning Times Leader Player of the Year in 2014, Mattson makes her third appearance on the all-WVC list. The spry center-mid led Dallas to a 15-3 record with 28 goals, 17 assists and 73 assists. Her career was highlighted by a 58-4 conference record, a 2014 district title, and two PIAA quarterfinal appearances. Mattson scored the game-winner in overtime to down Crestwood in the district quarters.
Sam Mazula
Dallas
So. – Defense
Mazula and the Mountaineers’ defense sported a league-best .73 goals-against average and 10 shutouts during the regular season. Mazula provided five goals and two assists from a defensive role.
Tiffany Michalek
Wyoming Valley West
So. – Midfield
Michalek helped Wyoming Valley West match its best season since the fall-to-spring merger with an 11-6 record and its first WVC Division 3 title. The sophomore mid totaled 18 goals and 38 points. She scored a hat trick against defensively sound Wyoming Area.
Maddie Mimnaugh
Pittston Area
Sr. – Forward
Before joining former Patriot teammate Allie Barber at Bloomsburg next year, Mimnaugh capped her final season with 19 goals and nine assists. Mimnaugh took the Patriots to the semis after the team’s regional championship in 2014. The two-time TL all-star showed a flair for big games; she had four goals and an assist in a district playoff game vs. Delaware Valley, and an overtime golden goal against WVW.
Kendall Pearage
Coughlin
So. – Forward
Coughlin’s first district championship in 12 seasons would have been incomplete without the offensive output of Pearage down the stretch. Pearage totaled 16 goals and seven assists in a breakout season. She totaled two goals and an assist in a defiant district semifinal victory over defending champion Dallas to book a state playoff berth.
Alee Pettit
Wyoming Area
Sr. – Mid./Def.
Shuffling between a center-mid and defensive role, Pettit had nine goals and three assists for a Warriors’ squad that was battled by injuries down the stretch. The two-time all-star scored a goal in an upset of Pittston Area and led the Warriors to five shutouts defensively.
Cassidy Steligo
Coughlin
Sr. – Defense
Steligo suffocated opposing attacks to the tune of a .89 goals-against average. From the turn of the season to the district final, the Coughlin defense kept opponents scoreless for more than 500 consecutive scoreless minutes and six shutouts. Steligo led Coughlin to a district championship and a 17-2-1 record.
Emma Sukowaski
Coughlin
Sr. – Defense
A three-time Times Leader all-star, Sukowaski helped the Crusaders both offensively and defensively en route to its first district title since spring 2004. Sukowaski totaled 12 goals and four assists. She and the Coughlin defense held opponents to less than a .900 goals-against average and recorded shutouts during the first three rounds of the district playoffs.
Tiffany Zukosky
Dallas
Sr. – Midfield
Zukosky excelled at creating opportunities for the Mountaineers, tallying a team-best 18 assists. With a knack for scoring off long-distance chances, she added 11 goals. In her four seasons, the two-time all-star led Dallas to just four WVC losses, a district championship and a pair of PIAA quarterfinal runs.
